Job Summary:
The Senior Commercial Roof Estimator plays a crucial role in our organization by accurately estimating project costs and providing comprehensive proposals for commercial roofing projects. This individual will utilize their expertise in roofing systems, materials, and construction methodologies to assess project requirements, evaluate costs, and develop competitive bids that meet client specifications and align with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Assessment:
– Conduct thorough evaluations of project specifications, including drawings, plans, and site conditions.
– Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to understand project requirements and objectives.
– Identify potential challenges, risks, and opportunities related to project scope and logistics.
2. Cost Estimation:
– Analyze project components, such as materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services, to determine accurate cost estimates.
– Utilize industry knowledge and pricing databases to assess the cost of materials and labor, accounting for market trends and regional variations.
– Develop detailed cost breakdowns and estimates for roofing projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
3. Proposal Development:
– Prepare comprehensive proposals and bid documents that outline project scope, pricing, timelines, and deliverables.
– Collaborate with sales, marketing, and project management teams to tailor proposals to client needs and preferences.
– Present proposals to clients and participate in negotiations to secure contracts and agreements.
4. Vendor and Supplier Relations:
– Maintain relationships with roofing material suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
– Solicit bids and proposals from subcontractors and vendors, evaluating proposals for cost-effectiveness and quality.
5. Project Support:
– Provide ongoing support to project teams throughout the pre-construction phase, offering expertise and guidance on cost-related matters.
– Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards.
– Participate in post-bid reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify areas for improvement and enhance future estimating processes.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
– Minimum of [5] years of experience in commercial roofing estimation or a similar role.
– In-depth knowledge of commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation techniques.
– Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as AccuBid, PlanSwift, The Edge or similar programs.
– Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
– Proven track record of successfully bidding and winning commercial roofing projects.
– Certification or licensure in roofing estimation or related field is a plus.
